Volunteer at Unite to Fight Cancer

Whether you’re cheering on our incredible participants along the course, handing out water, providing bike maintenance, or distributing event packs, we invite you to unite with us to help make the 2019 Unite to Fight Cancer an unforgettable community experience.

We are looking for sparkling volunteers to support the event in four key areas. Read through the details about each volunteer group, choose a role you’re interested in, then fill in the form and hit submit to join us this year! One of our friendly team will be in touch soon to help find the perfect role for you.

All volunteers will receive a special t-shirt plus plenty of high-fives, snacks and water throughout the day.

We’ll also be more than happy to certify your volunteering hours with us to meet the needs of your university or school, for example.

1. Participant experience group

The role of the Participant experience group will be to ensure that our participants are treated like stars and have the time of their lives at the event.

This group will be interacting directly with everyone taking part and should be the loudest people on the course! Volunteers will be expected to spoil and pamper participants, to indulge them in a bit of banter, and give positive encouragement to everyone they meet.

This volunteer role would be best suited to people who love to sing, dance, scream and shout! They are the heart and soul of the event and keep the energy and momentum rising at every bump, hill and turn.

2. Event champions group

The role of the Event champions group will be to help the Unite to Fight Cancer Events Team run the event smoothly. Duties will include course marking, crowd and traffic control and course management.

This group of volunteers is vital to the success of the event and will act as the eyes and ears on course, working closely with the Event Team to ensure that Unite to Fight Cancer 2019 is the greatest event ever to have graced Melbourne. Without the hard work, dedication, and selflessness of this group, the event would be impossible to deliver.

This volunteer role would be best suited to people who like to be hands-on, in the middle of the action!

3. Specialist volunteers

This is a group of volunteers with specialist skills, such as masseurs, yoga instructors, and a warm-up instructor. These people will have accredited specialties, and their role will be to ensure our participants are kept in tip-top condition and treated like superstars.

The Specialist volunteers will be based in the Event Village at the start and finish line.

These roles would be a great fit for those with specialist skills who are willing to give up their time in support of a great cause.

4. Event tech support

This group of volunteers will be dedicated to supporting the cyclists by providing mechanical and technical assistance. Their duties may vary widely – from full repairs, to repairing punctures, to loaning out tools as needed.

Due to the nature of this role, volunteers will be expected to have a good level of know-how about bike maintenance – as well as a dash of patience for those new to cycling!

This group would be best suited to volunteers knowledgeable about bike maintenance, cycle enthusiasts, and cyclists who are keen to support the cause but don’t wish to take part in the event.

Yes, I'd love to volunteer for Unite to Fight Cancer 2019
